What is the Sustainable Healthcare Initiative?

What if we approached health care with the goal of not just helping people live longer, but live better?  With growing financial and demographic challenges facing the NHS, this goal appears to be getting increasingly more difficult to achieve. An aging population and mounting cases of chronic disease means that the NHS is under more pressure than ever to deliver quality care with limited resources.

The Sustainable Healthcare Initiative - Established in 2015 as a partnership between AbbVie and the College of Medicine– brings together minds from all areas of the healthcare industry and patient organisations to address and devise solutions to the key challenges facing our NHS.

ABBVIE'S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE

As a new biopharmaceutical company in the 21st century, we have the opportunity to commit to a fundamentally different approach to addressing the healthcare challenges in our society. Breakthrough medicines, devices and medical approaches have dramatically improved the health of the world; people are living longer, healthier lives; but the burden of chronic disease is becoming more costly.
