Climate change is one of the most critical issues facing our planet. We are committed to helping address this issue by reducing our direct impacts from manufacturing and by making a positive difference in managing indirect impacts across our value chain. We encourage our suppliers, distributors and other stakeholders to reduce their impact.
Six of our sites have achieved ISO 50001 certification and we aim for all our manufacturing sites to complete certification by 2018. Certified sites continuously improve energy systems and reduce the amount of energy consumed and CO2e emissions generated. Learn more about what we’re doing to address climate change.
Absolute over a 2015 baseline
We recognise the need to protect the environment for future generations. That’s why we’ve set long-term goals for 2035 (over a 2015 baseline).
Water is the essence of life—and from a business standpoint, water is an essential raw material for a wide range of our products. Every day, our operations rely on water for manufacturing medicines that patients need. As global concern about water scarcity continues to rise, it has become increasingly important for AbbVie to safeguard this vital resource. Learn more about what we’re doing to address water usage.
We are committed to responsible product stewardship and on the appropriate management and control of waste. We’re working diligently to reduce or eliminate existing waste streams.
We focus on analysing, understanding and continually improving the lifecycle environmental profile of our medicines. This starts with the raw materials and ingredients procured for operations through product distribution, end use and management of product residuals.
